It was made during a time when I actually had little motivation and wasn’t really making anywhere with my music. Originators of Dubstep
Dubstep originated in South London, England, and is actually a genre of electronic dance music. It supposedly started in the 1990’s but some would say that elements that make up the dubstep sound first originated in Jamaican sound system in the early 80’s.
Dubstep Sounds
The dubstep genre usually features bass wobbles, high frequency shifts and other randomly placed elements that seem to give it a unique, uncontrollable, but yet controlled sound. Its percussion and drum elements usually contain traces of dub, jungle, drum and bass, reggae and more.
Skrillex
This genre became very popular with the introduction of Skrillex, a well-known Dub-step DJ and electronic music producer from Los Angeles California. More recently, this genre has been noticed in several electronic, hip hop and pop artists, creating fusion genres like “hip-step”, “dub-pop”, “experimental-post dubstep”, “future garage”, bro-step”, “pop-step” as well as many others.
One of the defining characteristics of dubstep is the “wobble bass”. It’s basically a long bass note manipulated in a way, that it becomes an instrument within itself. It’s almost like your manipulating the sound of that single note to create musical melodies. By manipulating the sound I mean, using a low frequency oscillator to manipulate the distortion, filters and volume, to create a rhythmical sound that is truly indescribable in its full capacity. It is a musical sound different from any other, also known as a timbre. The type of music is most popular in the club and live music scene.
