How to Create a Converting YouTube Video for your Business

YouTube is a powerful tool and can be used to create brand awareness and attract converting customers if used correctly. Video marketing is undeniably current — because it converts! Use the following steps to plan, film, and edit a successful YouTube video to take your inbound marketing campaign to the next level.

Create a script before filming and stick to a timeline

To get the most out of your YouTube video in terms of conversions and viewer engagement, make sure that you stick to a timeline for your video. In an average 10-minute video, take no longer than 1 minute for the introduction. Introduce yourself, your business, and give a small amount of information about the history of your business or what services you provide. It’s important to keep this section of the video concise — after all, your viewers are likely there for the content, not you.

Next, either solve a problem, teach a concept, or speak about a particular topic. (6-7 mins) This is the main content of your video, and it’s important that you are providing value to the viewer. Create a video that is useful to the viewer in some way or teaches them something, and you will build trust with that viewer. This is the first step in taking that viewer from someone who has never heard of your brand before and turning them into a loyal customer. Break down the topic of your video into main points or steps. Then get these main points down on paper and follow each one with the main content script.

Finally, summarize the video and provide a call to action. (2-3 mins) Decide what it is you want your viewers to do. Visit your website? Sign up for your email list? Purchase a product or service? People are much more likely to do something if you ask them to. A great example of a call to action is letting people know that if they sign up for your email list, they will receive a free PDF with more information about the video topic. Include a link to your email list signup at the top of the video description and make sure to let your viewers know that they can find this link in the video description. Get your summary and call to action down on paper, then use this script to film your video.

Edit for brevity and clarity

While editing your video, make sure to remove any sections where you may have gone off-topic or done any ranting. Viewers will click off of your video if you don’t cut out any unrelated tangents. Make sure that you’re speaking plainly in your video – if you find yourself using too many technical terms, you may want to consider re-filming a section. Add any photos to your videos that may help to explain concepts more clearly. Photos can elevate the level of clarity in your video by providing a visual example of whatever you are explaining.

Make use of keywords in the title and description of your video

What keywords are you ranking your video for? Make sure that you use your main keyword in the title. Then, use all of your keywords in the description of your video.

YouTube allows for up to 100 characters in your title. This being said, your viewers will only see the first 70. Keep your title 70 characters or less and try to place your keywords as close to the front as possible. Putting the keywords at the front of your video’s title will help it rank better in searches.

You can put up to 5000 characters in the description of your video. It’s recommended that you do use up as much of this limit as possible. Search engines will only show the first 100-150 characters of your description.

Do these steps correctly and you’ll have a high-converting, sharable YouTube video that provides value and builds trust with your potential customers. If one of your videos helped them solve a problem or understand a new concept, they will be far more likely to watch the next one you put out. If you’ve engaged them with your video content, eventually they will complete your call to action, even if they don’t on the first view.

How To Become A Successful Rap Artist

Now, that you’ve downloaded a couple of my beats. I’m sure your asking yourself what do I do next?

Here is a step-by-step guide showing you exactly what to do with the beats you just downloaded and “how to become a successful rap artist” with the music you make with them. If you didn’t buy beats from my site, this article will still give you ideas on how to become a more professional hip hop artist in general.

This guide will also teach you how to get exposure to yourself as a rap artist online.

If you download my free beats, you can still follow this guide but some of the steps require $ investment and if you are going to put money into your tracks, you might as well buy your beats so you can go the full mile with your music.

Steps To Becoming A Successful Rap Artist:

We have created a list of steps to becoming a successful rap artists. Take a look at the steps and read more about each step below by clicking on the links.

  1. Create A Radio Quality Song
  2. Create A Rap Music Video
  3. Create A Promo Video For Your Music Video
  4. Purchase A Feature For Your Next Music Video
  5. Get Booked For Shows
  6. Go On Tour And Get Paid Gigs

1. The First Step of becoming a successful rap artist is “Create a Radio Quality Rap Song”.

There are a couple of different options on how you can record your own rap songs. Here they are below:

Different ways to record a rap song:

  • Record your own raps songs yourself using your computer and home studio recording equipment
  • Record your own raps using your I-phone or Ipad
  • Record your own raps using a digital recorder
  • Get your raps recorded in a professional recording studio

But, what should I do with my rap song after I’ve recorded it?

After you have recorded your song, to get it radio quality, you should spend money to get it professionally mixed and mastered. A&R’s will be able to tell if you’ve recorded your song in a home studio. Getting your song professionally mixed and mastered sets your tracks apart from the crowd.

What do I do after my rap song gets mixed and mastered?

After the mixing and mastering has taken place, your song is now in an acceptable quality for human consumption.

You can choose to start sharing your songs on music sharing sites like Soundclick and Soundcloud or social media sharing sites like Facebook and Twitter.

But, if I were you, I would already start thinking about your music in the long run. People love listening to music but they love watching videos even more.

Not only are you going to want to shoot a rap music video for your song but you are going to want to shoot promo videos for that song.

A great example of someone doing it right, is a rapper named “Futuristic”. Futuristic is an Arizona Rapper that is slowly making a name for his self all across the US. He is doing nationwide tours and meeting famous people left and right. Some of his videos have been shared millions of times and sometimes shared by famous celebrities on Twitter.

He not only creates high quality videos for his songs but most importantly makes promo videos to gain attraction to those songs. One of the promo videos he did for the song called “The Greatest” was one of his biggest victories.

He created a video of himself dressed like a nerd and titled the video “nerd rapping in Compton”. Compton, CA is the home of the well known rap group called the N.W.A. and most people would expect that anyone rapping near or around there better be bringing it or else.

Futuristic leaves you stunned because your expecting a weak rap but he surprises you by spitting out some pretty nice lyrics with some technical delivery which ends up gaining him the respect of the street crowd. You can watch Futuristic’s Promo video here:

You don’t have need the same approach as Futuristic but at least this should get your mind thinking about what way you want to draw in the crowd.

That style worked for Futuristic because it probably came natural for him to act that way. Think of creative ways you can set yourself apart from other rappers and that might end up being your meal ticket. Your next step as a rap artist is to create your first rap music video.

2. The Second Step of becoming a successful rap artist is to “create a rap music video”.

There are a couple of different options on how you can record your own rap videos. Here they are below:

Different ways to record a rap music video:

  • Record your rap music video using a digital camera and your home computer
  • Record your rap music video using your Iphone or Ipad and downloading apps like Viva Video for Iphone and Android and Picplaypost for Iphone and Android that let you make cool videos that are very popular these days

What to do after I record my rap music video:

After you record your rap music video, now its time to upload it to video sharing sites like YouTube and Facebook.

  • Upload Your Video To Facebook
  • Upload Your Video To Youtube

3. The Third Step of becoming a successful rap artist is to create a promo video for your rap music video.

This step is similar to Step 2 but, instead of shooting a traditional music video, you are creating a promo video. Which means that, you are doing something different in this video to create an attraction but the video still has your song in it in some way.

Example of Ideas for Promo Videos:

  • Create a video of you freestyling your song to elderly people
  • Create a video of yourself rapping your song to a baby
  • Make a video of yourself rapping your song really fast
  • Create a video of you rapping your song backwards
  • Create a video that shows each step of your song creation process (quick video)

Think about why people are going to want to share your video. People would want to share a video of someone rapping to an elderly person if the elderly person reacted in some strange way or disliked the rapping.

People would say WTF to a video of someone rapping to a baby and a video of you rapping really fast would be something talented that people already like to share etc…

4. The Fourth Step of becoming a successful rap artist is to get features on your rap music video.

You are going to need a way to gain more fans, more quickly than just uploading videos with no audience, especially in the beginning stages of become a rap artists. Features are a great way to come up quickly in the music game and increase your audience quickly. Do the right feature, with the right person, at the right moment and boom… It can get you seen by a lot of important people really quickly. Futuristic is already getting offers from record labels already just from the couple of videos he has done but is choosing to stay independent for now.

Buying features can get quite costly but some rappers do them for really cheap. A friend of mine got Afroman on his track for $800 dollars. Yeah, it’s costing him upfront but if he can grab some of Afroman’s audience and make them his, then the money was well spent. Plus, features help you get new audiences if you have one already and help grow your audience if you are a brand new artist. All the major artists do features and know the impact of them. Always remember, it takes money to make money.

5. The Fifth Step of becoming a successful rap artist is to get booked for shows.

Doing paid shows and touring is going to be the way you make the majority of your money as a rap artist. This needs to be your main focus after you have already created your songs, made your videos, gotten a couple of features and made a small name for yourself.

You want to set yourself up like a business. Build an artist website that has info, biography’s and contact information to book you as an artist. Be mindful of the type of people you want to book you and do your research to find out the type of people that book artists the most. These are the type of people you want to appeal to.

6. The Sixth Step of becoming a successful rap artist is to go on tour and get paid gigs.

Going on tour is basically getting booked on a major scale. You have to have clubs book you in all of the major cities you want to visit. These clubs will pay you a negotiated amount of money to come to their club to perform. Don’t think you are going to get paid a huge amount right away. I was talking to one of the club owners in Phoenix that told me he only had to pay DMX $15,000 to perform and he is a major artist.

Underground artists can sometimes make up to $500-$3,000 dollars per show depending on the amount of draw the club thinks the artist might be able to bring in. Futuristic has people lined up at the door just to get his autograph and clubs know that he will be able to bring in traffic to their club and that’s the reason they book him. Its not the question of what the club can do for you but what you can do for the club. Can you bring in more than 3 people to watch your show? No, well maybe not yet but follow the steps above and you will build an audience, you will get booked and you will eventually make money on tour performing your music.

How to Get your music placed on TV, Film and Commercials

Sooo, you’ve got some pretty hot music, and now you want some music placement opportunities on National Cable TV, Commercials, and Film right? Awesome, that’s exactly what I’m about to teach you.

I originally wrote this article Jan 2015, but I am updating it today with new and awesome information! I just recently got a beat placement on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop Atlanta!!! I was watching the show with my babe, and all of a sudden my beat started playing out of nowhere!! I looked around to make sure it wasn’t my phone or computer glitching or something… it wasnt!!!

I freaked out and said “That’s my beat!!”, “OH MY GOD”, “Thats My Beat!!”.

I could not believe it! I always had a dream of my music playing on a popular show that I actually watch. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I had received numerous placements on VH1’s “Best Week Ever” already,

My First Music Placement On VH1 Best Week Ever

but this was my beat playing on a MAJOR TV Show that I actually watch. I looked it up and that show is watched by 5.6 million people! I honestly don’t know how much I stand to make from that beat placement yet since it only happened about 1 month and 1 day ago, but who’s counting haha.

Check out the post and video when I realized my beat was playing on VH1’s Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, I freaked out!!

That was an unforgettable experience that will live with me for a lifetime!

My Name is Erick “Efreezee” Carlson and I am a music producer and composer for Artists, TV and Film, but it hasn’t always been that way though. I only started getting TV placements back in 2014 and it actually blew my mind at how easy it was to get. You will also be surprised at how easy it actually is to get your music placed on TV and Film just by knowing the right information and where to go.

However, keep in mind, I’ve been making music since 2001, it took me over 13 years to get my first TV or Film placement. You are basically getting the benefit of my 15 years of experience all in this one article. Lucky you!! Wish I would of had some kind of help when I slipped, fell, and busted my everything along the way… but, that’s another story, haha, lets get your music placed!

How I Got Started

Back in 2014, I was at a point in my music producer career where I wanted to start making off of my beats, and I was searching everywhere for all kinds of ways to do that. I started out google searching for ways to promote my music. All I found were people wanting to charge me to put my beats on a mix-tape or music companies offering Twitter or Email blasts. They promised to shoot your music out to all of their 1,000’s of music fans. I did some research online and found out that, those blasts really don’t work and only get you so much exposure.

My First BMI Roytalty Check For Music Placements On National TV

After searching and searching for ways to promote my beats, I finally ended up finding what I never knew I was looking for, it was “Music Publishing & Licensing Companies”.

I found a music licensing company called Broadjam.comI spent $300 dollars for a year membership to try it out and see if I could get some solid placements on their. They not only let you submit music for TV and Commercials, but also with major artists.

music placement opportunity with shakira major artist

Selected for Music Placement With Shakira

I was actually selected at one point for a placement on a Shakira album, but that was only the first step to getting on the album. Your beat or song still has to make it all the way through 2 more steps before making the final cut. And, not only do you have to pay the $300, but you also have to pay 5 dollars per submission. To make a long story short, I never ended up receiving 1 single placement from Broadjam.com and probably spend around $550 total. I was really discouraged at this point and wasn’t sure whether to sign up with another music licensing company or not.

That was until I got a random call from a lady in New York, claiming she knew how to get my beats placed on TV and Film. I was very susceptible, especially having never talked to this person ever in my life before. Although, she seemed liked she was pretty knowledgeable about the music industry, and was only asking me for $200 for the full list of music licensing companies (I think there were 2). I only had a little bit of money at the time and only felt comfortable giving out $100 dollars until I knew at least one of the companies were legit. So, I paid her the $100 dollars for the information via Paypal and then she told me where to go.

Unlock the content below to find out where to go (Website) to get your music placed on TV!

She said go to “Jingle Punks”, I can still remember her voice saying that, and she said it again “Jingle… Punks…”. Go to JinglePunks.com and click on the, “Submit Music Tab”.

So I went there only to discover that I couldn’t sign up right away, there was a message on the page that said I had to wait 10 more minutes until the submissions were back open. I didn’t know that Jingle Punks team members listen to both of the 2 tracks you submit to them. There is no automatic sign up, they have to email you back and offer you an account after determining your tracks are good enough (high quality, studio recorded, no copyright infringements, all original music).

To make a long story short, I thought it would be much easier then it actually turned out to be but the method I am going to tell you is very simple and straight to the point. You submit your music and you either get accepted or rejected. The woman who actually told me where to go actually charged me $100 dollars for this information, so I am going to be charging you as well, but its not going to cost you a hundred dollars, its merely going to cost you a Facebook like, Google plus 1 or twitter share.

They will give you an opportunity to submit 2 tracks. Pick your absolute best music for these submissions, because it is make or break on the first try here. If you don’t make it in on the first run, you will have to wait 6 months in order to submit again. Take your time and pick out your best beats, songs, instrumentals and vocal possible. Go ahead and submit them along with your contact information and wait for Jingle punks to contact you back with their decision. Hopefully they will accept you and you will get an email stating that you can now submit more cue’s for processing. Cues stand for: more songs or instrumentals. After you sign the Schedule A’s, all thats left to do now it wait. As you can see, I submitted this late 2012 and didn’t receive my first music licensing placement until the first quarter in BMI of 2014 and it actually wasn’t even that much money. You will see that it takes multiple placements or very huge ones in order to make really good money of licensing your songs. Here is what my BMI statement looks like for the placements I have received. Click the document to open it up.

music licensing document

I’ve tried using Broadjam.com for a full solid year. I purchased their submission package and everything and farthest I got was getting selected for an album placement with Shakira but nothing every came from it and I wouldn’t suggest going there unless you know for a fact that people get placements there. I spent around $500 and never got one. Jingle punks is a free service and I have never had to pay them a single dime.

I promise, that if you use these steps and you have quality music, you will absolutely be able to get placements in TV and Film and hey if you don’t get accepted, try again in 6 months and don’t stop trying until you get it and it won’t cost you anything but your time. I hope this post helped you, please share it with your other music friends in hopes of getting their music heard or played on live national and international cable tv networks.
